October & November 2015- Arriving in Quartzsite

From Utah we headed south to Camp Wood AZ. Wayne wanted to look at the area where the Arizona Trail Riders hold an enduro, the Sheridan Mountain Showdown. If you want to see what riding there looks like; check out the video on this website.  http://www.arizonatrailriders.org/sheridan-mountain-showdown-sections-1-and-2/
We camped on the east end of the Camp Wood Road, aka Forest Service Rd 21.There is a small section of State Trust land just as you turn onto FS 21.
This is the beginning of Motorized Trail 666. See the LOCKED gate!  Yes, public land, locked up so the public can't use it.
This is the camping area for Camp Wood.  It is 16 miles down a dirt road. I'm so glad that we found the place to camp that is less than a mile from the paved road.
This is a great shot of the Arizona sky.  I love Arizona.  The weather is so wonderful. This was taken at Lake Pleasant, just west of I-17, north of Phoenix. We spent 2 nights here, spending the days in town catching up on shopping and the evenings in the hot tub.  Gotta love a place with a pool!
We finally made it to Bob and Cindy's place in Quartzsite. We take over a little corner of the place.  The cats love it here, I think they consider this one of their homes!
After working for the first week on getting everything cleaned up and rebuilding some of the patios, we took a short desert ride. Here's Cindy at one of the mines along our route.
These were very tough people, the ones that lived and worked year round in this desolate land.
Wayne checking out the mine building.
