Ring Around the Country, Part 10

Wednesday, June 13, 2018

We left Stirling heading toward Loch Tay to see more of where my family comes from. The weather has crashed and I can't decide if it's because we wanted to camp some more, or because we are just getting over our colds or if it is simply Scotland!
This is Loch Lubnaig. It was a lovely drive along it's shores.
I love Scotland, it is so beautiful
This is the Falls of Dochart, at the west side of Loch Tay, near Killin
This looks worse than it was. It is a narrow bridge, but he made it through just fine
 Loch Tay
At the east end of the Loch is Kenmore, where we stopped for lunch in the Kenmore Hotel, the oldest inn in Scotland, established in  the 1370's
Just down the road we stopped at Dewars Distillary.
We stopped in the village of Huntley, at the Gordon Arms Hotel. It is an older hotel, with 26 rooms, but we think only about 8 of them have a bathroom in the hotel room.  Small, but it worked. I loved the plaid carpet.
Beautiful window in our hotel

We headed out in the morning, expecting to drive along the coast, but before we got to Keith we found out that our road was closed for road work and we needed to reroute. This added time to our travels, and we had added a new destination, thanks to a fellow guest we had spoken to in the pub the night before.
We still got to travel down Loch Ness, looking for Nessie!
 No sighting for us!!
At Port William we turned and headed north to Mallaig.  It was a beautiful drive.
Mallaig is a small port town, with a ferry that goes to the Isle of Skye
It seems to be an odd place to have a white sand beach, but what ever.
It's really scenic here
